Herpes viral infections are a group of viral diseases that can affect the skin, mucous membranes, internal organs, and the peripheral and central nervous system. According to WHO, 90% of the world's population is a carrier of the herpes virus. However, the peculiarity of the pathogen is that it can remain latent for a long time (and sometimes for a lifetime) and become active only under the influence of unfavorable factors, accompanied by characteristic symptoms.
Classification of herpesvirus infection according to the localization of the lesion:
• skin;
• eye;
• of the oral mucosa;
• anogenital area;
• nervous system;
• visceral herpes;
• disseminated;
• herpes zoster (in a complicated form can manifest as encephalitis, meningitis).
The disease may have a localized or generalized form.
